VatCal - Vat / GST Calculator ... Its the small things that make the difference.

Sep 1, 2011 | | 0 comments |

I have tried a lot of GST / VAT calculators since the App Store opened, and I must admit that most of them do exactly as expected. Besides, what more are they supposed to do, apart from adding or subtracting a specified tax percentage.

However this app, VatCal, also does all the things you would expect, but the difference here, and the one small thing that makes it stand out, is that it also functions as a normal everyday calculator, as well as a tax calculator. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but now you only need the one app to do all your calculations.

Another nice small feature is that if you are working with either VAT or GST, depending on your country selection, the text throughout the app changes accordingly, either to GST or VAT, and that includes the function buttons.  Its not a big thing, but it does make a difference.
(see the pictures below)

The app includes set rates for a number of countries, and also has an area to key in a custom value. All this is very handy if you are traveling, but lets face it, most of us will pick our country and the tax rate and just stick with it.

VatCal is one of those apps that is made up of a lot of small features, that just make it very handy to have lying around on your iPad.
I think, like me, you'll end up using it a lot more than first expected.
